Microsoft to End Support for Windows 7

As of January 14^th 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security patches for Windows 7.

From this date, machines running the OS may be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses.

What should I do?

Microsoft recommends that users still operating Windows 7, Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2, or lower, should upgrade to Windows 10 before January 14^th 2020. This will ensure that security risks are minimised.

What are the implications?

Users of Dassault Systèmes‘ products could find themselves using the product on an unsupported OS. And, as Windows 10 may not be compatible with older hardware, users may be required to upgrade their hardware.

Will Dassault Systèmes products work on Windows 10?

Thankfully, most products are likely to remain functional. But, Dassault Systèmes recommend that users avoid continued use as the software has only been tested on specific hardware.

Bug fixes will be provided for releases on the correct OS (see compatibility table below).

Additionally, Dassault Systèmes products will be given individual end of support dates.

At the time of publishing this article, the following are currently being supported and maintained:

• CATIA V5-6R2018 Onwards
• 3DEXPERIENCE 2017x Onwards

Which OS is compatible with which release of CATIA?

Please refer to the compatibility chart below to determine the supported OS of Dassault Systèmes CATIA products:

*1 – From SP2 Onwards only (CATIA Only)

*2 – From SP4 Onwards only (SmarTeam Only)

*3 – From R2016x.FP.CFA.1605 only
