On top of application update announcements, training and certification sessions, 3DEXPERIENCE World debuted the industry-packaged, cloud platform offerings for 3DEXPERIENCE.Works.

These new offerings provide the ease-of-use and simplicity of SOLIDWORKS applications in a new category of business solution for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Innovation at the Intersection of Science, Art and Technology

A wide variety of inspirational entrepreneurs and innovators took to the stage over the course of the four-day event.

Model Mania returned with 3D CAD expert enthusiasts, Mark Scheinder and Michael Stevens. And they opened the competition up on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with 3D Sculptor with xShape and 3D Creator with xDesign.

Paralympic gold medallist, Founder and Designer at BioDapt Prosthetics, Mike Schultz shared the results of their collaboration with the Center for Advanced Design on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Their Biodapt VF2 is a high performance prosthetic foot used for sport and recreational activities, but now Biodapt are working on an “Everyday Cruiser” prosthetic using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to expand on their operations.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Playground

Covering the full experience from Collaborative Design to Manufacturing

The Education Zone provided a glimpse into the future of 3D Design with student projects and programmes from high school to university level.  Students from across the world shared their take on the engineering methods of the future.

While the Hackathon encouraged attendees to take part in the charitable assembly and delivery of prosthetic hands. Or to build robots to fuel STEM education as part of Danielle Boyer’s EKGAR (Every Kid Gets a Robot) program.

In the XR Zone, attendees gained access to innovative Augmented and Virtual Reality labs, powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to discover a Virtual Museum of Innovations.

Brent Richardson brought the mobile Fab Lab, allowing participants to collaborate in the “How to Make (Almost) Anything” project.

And the Shop Floor provided a unique opportunity for users to explore innovative new manufacturing tools and applications with DELMIA.Works.

Final Thoughts

The development from SOLIDWORKS World to 3DEXPERIENCE World

We see this as a reflection of the industry-wide uptake of cloud and saas platforms and the move away from desktop, or on-premise, solutions.

While many 3D CAD users may continue to satisfy their requirements in a desktop environment, few will deny the advantages offered by Dassault Systèmes’ collaborative design solutions.

As we continue to realise the true potential of Industry 4.0 technologies, cloud PLM solutions become more and more essential to organisational growth strategies.
